Timor-Leste’s future connection to the global submarine cable network is more than a technological upgrade: it is a decisive step towards socio-economic development and digital inclusion, as well as guaranteeing the country’s technological sovereignty. By strengthening its digital infrastructure, Timor-Leste will guarantee a faster and more accessible internet, but it will also open doors to more foreign investment, more innovation and a greater strengthening of its claim to regional integration in ASEAN.
